A journey through the seasons...

Supporting you to cultivate a deeper relationship with the natural world and honour the wisdom of the Earth's cyclical nature

'The Earth's Year : A Journey through the Seasons' is a 12 month course and you have access to the learning materials for one year from when you enroll.

We will work with the eight Wheel of the Year festivals as waypoints to mark the unfolding seasons and learn some of the folklore, wisdom and gifts of the natural world. The are two opportunities to enroll each calendar year - one at Samhain (31st October) and one at Beltane (1st May).

For each of the eight festivals there is a module which includes an introduction to that part of the cycle and ways we can honour it, a plant monograph for a herb or tree relating to that season, a ritual or activity we can incorporate to connect with the Earth's cycles (e.g. foraging, flower pressing, sowing seeds), a list of medicinal and culinary wild plants which are in season now, and a wild plant recipe or creative project.

Also included in the course is:

- access to an online community

- a recommended reading list

- an introduction to the wheel of the year

- sustainable foraging guidelines

- 12 months access to the course materials

- the option to upgrade to discounted face-to-face herb walks if you are local to Somerset, UK.

Kind words from past students

“I could not recommend this course enough. Through this course I was able to connect with the changing seasons and how it deepens our bonds with the rhythms of nature. ”

- Paula

“The course has been a really useful overview so far and I enjoyed learning about Samhain, particularly the list of suggestions for ways to celebrate meaningfully. I liked that there is a reading list too because I definitely wanted the course to be a launchpad to further exploration of the festivals.”

FAQ

  • How long will I have access to the course materials for?

You will be able to access the course for 12 months from the date of purchase. Additionally there are downloadable elements of the course for which you will have lifetime access.

  • What is the time commitment for this course?

The journey is self-paced and is very flexible depending on the time you are able to dedicate. We recommend setting aside at least 3-4 hours to allow time to read the material and explore the activities for each festival, however if you desired to dive deeper you could easily spend much longer on it. The 8 festivals are guidelines only and the course is self paced with no live events so there is no pressure to make space on specific days, just as and when you feel the call.

  • Will I learn useful skills?

The course is designed to be a portal to open up a deeper connection with nature. There are introductions to many different nature practices and skills such as sustainable foraging, plant identification, flower pressing, botany, herbal medicine making, earth mandalas and seed sowing/collecting. If you want to learn one of these skills in further depth we can recommend resources and skilled practitioners.

  • Can I do this course if I'm based outside of the UK?

The course was designed with the UK flora and seasons in mind, however many of the plants that we will meet are abundant across countries and continents. If you are in the Northern hemisphere and are based in a temperate region then most of the course will be relevant. If you are in the Southern Hemisphere the seasons will be out of sync.

  • Do you offer refunds?

We want you to enjoy the journey and for it to be in alignment with what you wish to learn and explore. If within 14 days the course doesn't match your expectations we will offer a full refund. After this point the course is non-refundable.

  • Can I become an affiliate?

We welcome applications for affiliates, this means you share the course with your network and receive a commission when people sign up. If you are interested please email [email protected].

Samantha Williamson

My name is Samantha and I am a plant tending, herb gathering, nature loving creative & mama living in Portugal with my 5 year old daughter, partner and two cats. I facilitate herb walks with a strong focus on the seasons and cycles of nature and the sharing of sustainable foraging practices, and I also co-run a 'gleaning network' where we rescue and redistribute surplus farm produce to projects that help people who are experiencing food insecurity.

I have had a life long passion for plants and nature and have studied various courses and modalities relating to the natural world; from permaculture and farming to herbalism and botany. I previously worked as a Botanical Horticultural Apprentice at Kew Gardens and hold an RHS Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth, Health and Applied Propagation. I am currently studying for an honours degree in Environmental Science.
